Fulham Football Club are making significant strides in their negotiations to sign Manchester City winger, Oscar Bobb. The 22-year-old player has seen his position at City become less secure following the arrival of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in January.
According to sources close to BBC Sport, Marco Silva's team is on the brink of reaching an agreement for Bobb. This development comes after a period of uncertainty about Bobb's future at Manchester City.
In a post-match interview following City's victory over Wolves, manager Pep Guardiola acknowledged the ongoing discussions about Bobb's potential move.
Pep Guardiola, Manchester City manager, said:
"I know there are rumours, I know there are talks. But I don't know right now."
When asked if he believed that Bobb wanted to leave the club, Guardiola simply replied: "I think so."
Season of struggles for Oscar Bobb
Bobb has had a challenging season at Manchester City this year. Despite featuring 15 times for his current team this season, he has not managed to score any goals yet. His last appearance was on December 17 against Brentford in the Carabao Cup where he had to be substituted within the first 20 minutes due to an injury.
Adding further complexity is that Borussia Dortmund from Bundesliga also expressed interest in signing him. Fulham have been performing well under Silva’s leadership recently; they have lost only one out of their last seven Premier League games and currently sit seventh in the table after their recent win over Brighton. The addition of Oscar Bobb could potentially strengthen Fulham’s squad as they aim higher up on Premier League standings. Notably, if signed by Fulham, he would join fellow Norwegian Sander Berge at Craven Cottage.
Bobb, who has represented Norway six times this year and played a crucial role in helping them qualify for the upcoming World Cup, missed almost the entirety of last season due to a leg fracture during training in August 2024. In addition to their interest in Bobb, Fulham have also made a £28m bid for PSV Eindhoven forward Ricardo Pepi. This move indicates that Fulham is keen on bolstering its attacking options as they continue their impressive run in the Premier League.
