Payers have decided to collectively contribute £9,357 to reimburse the dedicated fans who traveled north at a cost of approximately £25 per ticket

Manchester City squad has announced that they will refund the ticket costs for 374 supporters who travelled all the way to Norway, only to witness their team's surprising 3-1 defeat at Bodo/Glimt in a recent Champions League match.

The cost of an away ticket for the game was approximately £25. In response to their disappointing performance, Manchester City players have collectively decided to contribute a total of £9,357 towards reimbursing those dedicated fans who made the long journey up north. This gesture is not just about money; it is a clear demonstration of respect and appreciation towards their loyal fan base.

Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Rodri and Erling Haaland, members of City's captaincy group - spoke on behalf of the entire squad:

"Our supporters mean everything to us. We know the sacrifice that our fans make when they travel across the world to support us home and away and we will never take it for granted. They are the best fans in the world.

"We also recognise that it was a lot of travelling for the fans who supported us in the freezing cold throughout a difficult evening for us on the pitch. Covering the cost of these tickets for the fans who travelled to Bodo is the least we can do."

Despite there being limited calls from fans demanding refunds, this move by Manchester City players has been highly praised by the official supporters' club (OSC). It shows that even in defeat, these professional athletes are willing to take responsibility and show gratitude towards those who support them through thick and thin.

Need for victory against Galatasaray

The loss against Bodo/Glimt was one of the biggest upsets in Champions League history. Now more than ever before, Manchester City needs victory in their final league-phase game against Galatasaray. Winning this match would ensure they secure a top-eight finish – something crucial for both team morale and fan satisfaction.

Erling Haaland referred to the result as "embarrassing" and extended his apologies on behalf of his teammates. This sentiment echoes throughout Man City’s locker room as they prepare themselves mentally for what lies ahead.

While defeats can be disheartening, Manchester City's squad has shown a commendable level of sportsmanship and respect for their fans. Their decision to refund ticket costs is not just about compensating for a poor performance; it's about acknowledging the unwavering support of their fans and promising to strive harder in future matches.
