Tottenham Hotspur striker, Randal Kolo Muani, is reportedly "fine" after being involved in a minor car accident, according to the club's manager Thomas Frank. The incident occurred as the player was en route to the airport for an upcoming Champions League match.
Images surfaced on social media on Tuesday showing 27-year-old Kolo Muani and his teammate Wilson Odobert standing next to a damaged Ferrari. However, it was clarified that Odobert was not in the same vehicle but had stopped to assist his fellow Spurs player.
The accident happened while both players were heading towards the airport for their club’s trip to Germany. They were scheduled for Wednesday’s final Champions League group phase match against Eintracht Frankfurt at 20:00 GMT.
Impact on team schedule
Despite this unforeseen event, both Kolo Muani and compatriot Odobert are expected to fly out later on Tuesday. Manager Thomas Frank confirmed during his pre-match news conference that "everyone else involved in the accident was fine". He further explained that due to a tyre blowout causing some delay, they would land later than initially planned.
Kolo Muani is currently playing for Spurs on loan from Paris St-Germain and has been performing well this season with two goals and two assists in Europe under his belt. Despite this setback, Frank "fully expects" both frontman Kolo Muani and Odobert will be available for selection against Frankfurt where victory would secure them a top-eight spot in standings.
However, Tottenham will have to make do without full-back Pedro Porro who has sustained a hamstring injury which will sideline him for four weeks. Centre-back Micky van de Van also did not travel due to what has been described as a "minor thing", but he could potentially return for Sunday's Premier League home match against Manchester City at 16:30 BST.
Despite the minor accident involving Kolo Muani, Tottenham Hotspur's preparations for their upcoming Champions League fixture appear to be largely unaffected. Fans and sports betting enthusiasts will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on how this incident might impact the team’s performance in their forthcoming matches.
